Automatic ticket gates to go live at St. Pancras International station from 2 June

East Midlands Trains has announced the completion of brand new automatic ticket gates at St. Pancras International station, with the gates becoming operational from Tuesday 2 June.

The automatic ticket gates have been installed at the entrance to the East Midlands Trains platforms, on the upper level of St. Pancras International station.

The gates have been introduced to reduce the number of people travelling without a valid ticket, estimated to cost the rail industry around £200 million every year, and they will also help improve security throughout the station.

Posters and leaflets explaining how the ticket gates work are available at the station.

Gareth Leslie, Route Manager for East Midlands Trains said: “The new ticket gates are very simple for customers to use and are an important measure to ensure that all passengers are travelling with a valid ticket.

“Fare evasion is a serious issue on the UK rail network. These automated gates will help protect passenger revenue that pays for vital investment that benefits all rail passengers. They also have a proved track-record of reducing anti-social behaviour and helping to maintain a more secure environment.”
